CD and DVD Burning

# CDVDBURN Doc

# CD Simulator by Andy Armstrong

ADFS::HardDisc5.$.DOCZ.computerIYO.CD_DVD.CDVDBURN.CDFaker is a brilliant little module that is basically a CDFS driver for ISO9660 files on your harddisc. This means that without writing a CD, you can easily see what CDFS does to your data. It even allows you to use special speed files to simulate the access times of different CD- ROM drives. This module is distributed with CDBurn inside "FakeCD", which is a simple-to-use frontend that recognizes dragged ISO files on the CDFaker-controlled CDFS drive to mount them automatically. Note that CDROMFS has this facility built in, because it implements an Image Filing System for ISO files.

# CD formats

The manual for the Sony DVD recorder documents formats and recording modes pages 35-37 Format Iyonix TV/DVD DVD+R yes no DVD-R no yes DVD+RW ? yes DVD-RW ? yes CD-R yes ?

# Writing to a used disk

this appears to give no trouble - it writes a new track unfortunately the Iyonix doesn't seem to be able to read it (need to check now I have full cd burn version)

# to make an audio cd on Iyonix

see:- ADFS::HardDisc5.$.DOCZ.computerIYO.CD_DVD.CDVDBURN.Manual 3. Creating an Audio CD NOTE the manual describes how to copy tracks from one cd to another and menu options don't match the actual app options exactly, but part way down it says You can also use WAV or "CD" format sound files as CD tracks - just drag them into the Audio CD layout window. NOTE some of my wav files were rejected by cdvdburn when dropped on FFmpeg: The accepted ones had: 2 channels, s16, 1411 kb/s the rejected ones had: 1 channels, s16, 705 kb/s although both were produced the same way using MP32Abs After burning I played the cd on :1 - it was recognized but played silently on 0: it was ok

# To Burn a Data CD or DVD on the Iyonix

assumptions -IYOIDE:2 LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1673S is at :0 03.10.08 wrote Imation DVD+R at 2 times write speed. Oddly I wrote with simulate ticked, which took a reasonable time and completed. I then wrote again with simulate unticked and it finished in a minute. The disc is readable but I don't know if it was written on the first pass or the second! 18.11.11 wrote photos cd for julie 26.09.12 wrote Sicilia cd for Mike and Wendy 14.01.13 write 2011 and 2012 photo cds Make an ISOIMAGE goto PHOTOZ screen open temp folder Run !CDVDBurn click iconbar-icon... click Data layout by given directory Source Directory drag photos dir to here ISO 9660 parms Volume identifier key in a useful Volume identifier ISO 9660 naming options Filename translation Acorn CDFS or ISO level 2 Extensions Add CDFS extensions tick if for RISC OS or switch off Add Joliet extensions tick Generate Image click drag drag image icon to temp folder dismiss message window when finished close app window Select and label a CD or DVD to be burned CDVDBurn supports CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RW media. It does not work with DVD-R format ! Write a label on a blank disc - eg 2007 - FLUDZ 'n' TWINS Write Disc from ISOIMAGE Configure: IYOIDE:2 LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1673S open door of Iyonix insert labelled disc in upper drive 0 close drive click Write Data Disc in Control Centre drag image from temp folder to "Image to write" icon untick Simulate writing for DVD change Default writing speed to 1 click Write dismiss Message window saying CD or DVD successfully written To burn a second CD or DVD, click Write again dismiss message saying no medium click Write again SOME NOTES had a failure writing Puppy linux to DVD+R. It seemed to involve HID and Blinds. I rebooted and tried again without HID or Blinds and all was well and the Linux DVD booted successfully. The fail symptoms were: no progress % and winking Drive light It should have taken a few minutes but I hade to Alt-Break after an hour. Settings not tested I have mine set to: Filename translation standard: Acorn CDFS Maximum object name length: 31 (though I ignore warnings) Add CFDS extension Add Joliet Extensions and have never had a problem on a Windows system or an MP3 player. It may be possible to burn DVD faster than 1 but I had a failure trying to write at 2 times. at speed 1 a 130M set of photos took about 3 minutes 02.02.08
